James V. “Jim” Neely, a leading broker associate with Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage’s Southeast Metro office in Greenwood Village, was recently recognized by the Audio Information Network (AIN) for his contributions to the blind and visually impaired. AIN is comprised of volunteers who provide approximately 8,500 hours of broadcast time annually that increases self-sufficiency, reduces isolation, and increases knowledge for the visually impaired.

Jim was among several honorees recognized during an AIN brunch held at The Spice of Life Events Center in Boulder on Sunday, November 11, 2012. Honorees give their time to read to the blind and visually impaired.

Jim recently completed his first year of volunteer service at AIN by reading selected news articles from a local newspaper.

AIN was founded 23 years ago and currently has approximately 300 volunteers who broadcast to three Colorado regions radiating out of Denver, Pueblo, and Grand Junction. AIN’s Denver signal is piggy-backed onto the television signal of Rocky Mountain PBS (KRMA) and listeners can tune in via special digital receivers provided by AIN and can also listen to programs online or via special phone numbers.

Jim’s half-hour broadcast time is currently scheduled on Mondays at 3:00 p.m. He worked with blind wresters while in college and was always impressed with their ability to compete successfully against their sighted opponents.
