Broker associates, support personnel and managers with Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage’s Denver West office in Lakewood recently hosted a garage sale and other fundraising endeavors to benefit Step 13, a non-profit, transitional living program for the drug and alcohol addicted homeless.  The program pays for food, shelter, and gives men the kind of self-esteem they need to become productive members of society.

The garage sale, held in conjunction with Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage’s annual Ride the Range cycling event to benefit local charities through the Coldwell Banker Community Foundation, raised a total of $2,099.18 for Step 13.  A check was presented to Bob Cote, CEO of Step 13, on Tuesday, September 13, 2011.

In 1983, Step 13 had a capacity for 13 people.  Today, the organization has a capacity for 140 people and averages 90 people year-to-year.  Step 13 has served more than 4,000 people and averages 15 requests per week to enter the program.  Step 13 is structured so that one size does not fit all; time limits in the program are not set.  For more information, visit http://www.step13.org.
