Jim Neely, a leading real estate professional with Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage’s Southeast Metro office in Greenwood Village, hosted a fundraising dinner for Stories on Stage at his home on Tuesday, July 26, 2011.  Neely serves on the board of directors of Stories on Stage, a 10-year-old performing arts organization.

Stories on Stage presents professional actors from both coasts from stage, screen and television, as well as actors from local theatre companies, who read short stories on stage to paying audiences.  Without staging of any kind, and using only their voices, gestures and facial expressions, the actors make the stories and their characters come alive.  Presentations are held at the recently renovated Denver Civic Theatre.

Neely started the fundraising dinners program for Stories on Stage in June 2005, with that first dinner prepared by Noel Cunningham, a well known chef and owner of Strings Restaurant.  During the past seven years, Neely has made arrangements for more than 30 such events featuring numerous Denver area celebrity chefs, and hosted by many other Stories on Stage board members, sponsors and benefactors.  After each dinner, one of the Stories on Stage actors reads a short story from numerous stories chosen by the artistic director for presentation on stage during the regular season programs.  This year’s dinner raised a total of $2,750.

“Chef Cunningham and his staff once again prepared outstanding cuisine for 24 guests,” said Neely.  “Specially paired wines were served with each course, with dessert prepared by Keegan Gerhard, chef and owner of D-Bar Desserts, who has appeared on several television cooking shows.  Gerhard is currently a judge on one television show and he has been invited to cook multiple times at the James Beard House in New York, which is a very high honor in the world of fine cuisine.  The fundraisers also provide me with the opportunity to utilize my managerial and public relations skills in service to the non-profit community.”

The Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage office in Greenwood Village is located at 8490 East Crescent Parkway, Suite 100, and can be reached at 303.409.1300.  Neely may be reached directly at 720.748.0699 or via e-mail at jim.neely@coloradohomes.com.
