Dawn Atchison, a leading real estate professional with Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage in Parker, has earned the Certified Distressed Property Expert (CDPE) designation from the Distressed Property Institute.  Atchison successfully completed extensive training in foreclosure avoidance and short sales.

Short sales allow the cash-strapped seller to repay the mortgage at the price the home sells for, even though it is lower than what is owed on the property.  This can save many people from foreclosure and even bankruptcy.  More and more lenders are willing to consider short sales because they are much less costly than foreclosures.  By earning the CDPE designation, Atchison can offer invaluable expertise at a time when the area is experiencing a high volume of distressed homes in the foreclosure process.

“The CDPE designation has been invaluable as I work with sellers and lenders on complicated short sales,” said Atchison.  “It is rewarding to be able to help sellers save their homes from foreclosure.”

Atchison earned her real estate license in 2001 and is a member of the Douglas Elbert Realtor Association and the National Association of Realtors.  In addition to the CDPE designation, she holds several other designations recognizing the successful completion of stringent continuing education courses in real estate.  Atchison is a member of The Rowley Group with Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage, one of top-producing real estate teams in Colorado.

Atchison earned her bachelor’s degree from Arizona State University and is active with several civic groups and local schools.  She enjoys family activities, running and cycling.
