Michael Marcus, a leading real estate professional with Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage’s Southeast Metro office in Greenwood Village, has earned the Certified International Property Specialist (CIPS) designation from the National Association of Realtors (NAR).

Marcus successfully completed extensive specialized education courses and training to earn the CIPS designation.  He is now better equipped to help Americans buy property overseas, help recent immigrants to the U.S. buy property in America, and help foreigners buy property in the U.S.  Only about 2,000 of the more than one million members of the NAR hold the CIPS designation.

“I can now assist non-resident foreigners and recent immigrants navigate the home buying process in the United States,” said Marcus.  “By earning the CIPS designation, I am now on the recommended Realtor list with the U.S. State Department in the event the department receives inquiries from foreign nationals about acquiring property in the United States.  Residential international sales in the U.S. for the 12-month period ending March 2011 totaled a very significant $82 million, split evenly between non-resident foreigners and recent immigrants.  Total sales in the U.S. for the same period was $1.07 trillion.”

Marcus, along with his wife, Laurie, and son, Yaron, comprise the Marcus Team at Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage.  Marcus recently earned his Certified Negotiation Expert designation recognizing the successful completion of stringent continuing education courses in real estate.  Last summer, he was elected to the board of directors of the South Metro Denver Realtor Association.
